Printing precautions of art paper (II)

texture of paper

1 Texture - texture of object surface

any object has different surfaces, and different materials have different texture texture, which is called texture

the muscle on the surface of the object cannot be naturally degraded. Some are naturally formed, and some are obtained through manufacturing. All kinds of materials used in printing, such as metal, plastic, ceramics, glass, paper, special paper, etc., belong to the latter. Texture is different, texture is different, there are hard and soft, concave and convex, thick and thin, sparse and dense, deep and shallow differences. The interlaced arrangement of plant fibers in paper, the density and luster of metal materials and the extensibility, smoothness and wrinkle free of plastic surface all constitute different texture effects

2. Visual texture and tactile texture

texture is divided into visual texture and tactile texture. Visual texture is a texture that you can feel with your eyes, such as the stripes, patterns, bumps, etc. displayed on the screen, but they are all two-dimensional plane texture. Tactile texture is generally obtained by pressing, die cutting, carving and other processing methods. It is a three-dimensional texture that can be felt by hand. In graphic design, more and more designers use the texture and texture of special paper to design many outstanding works

special paper has better texture and texture than ordinary paper, which provides inexhaustible materials for design both from the macro and micro world

application of special paper in printing design

there are many kinds of special paper, and the design effect is also different. This paper only introduces the application of several commonly used special paper

1. Vegetable parchment (sulfuric acid paper)

vegetable parchment is a kind of denatured processing paper that changes the original properties of thick paper made from plant fibers after being treated with sulfuric acid. It is translucent, with few pores on the paper, and the paper is tough and compact, and it can be waxed, coated, embossed or wrinkled. Its appearance is easily confused with tracing paper

because it is translucent paper, sulfuric acid paper is often used as the ring lining or backing paper of books in modern design, which can better highlight and foil the theme and conform to the modern trend. Sometimes it is also used as the title page of a book or album. Printing gold, silver or pictures and texts on sulfuric acid paper is unique. It is generally used in high-end picture books. As shown in Figure 2

2. Synthetic paper (polymer paper and plastic paper)

synthetic paper is a material obtained by taking synthetic resin (such as PP, PE, PS, etc.) as the main raw material, melting the resin through a certain process, extruding and extending it into a film, and then carrying out papering treatment to endow it with the whiteness, opacity and printability of natural plant fibers. Generally, synthetic paper is divided into two categories: fiber synthetic paper and film synthetic paper

synthetic paper is no different from ordinary natural plant fiber paper in appearance. Film based synthetic paper has entered the market of advanced printing paper and can adapt to a variety of printing machines. Now the synthetic paper used in the market only refers to the film is synthetic paper. If books, advertisements and instructions printed on synthetic paper are not marked, ordinary consumers cannot see the difference between them and ordinary paper

synthetic paper has excellent printing performance and will not break when printing; The surface of synthetic paper presents a very small concave convex shape, which is very helpful to improve the opacity and printability; Synthetic paper has good image reproduction, clear dots, soft hue, stable size, and is not easy to aging. The printing effect of synthetic paper is shown in Figure 3. It is worth noting that when offset printing is used, professional synthetic paper offset printing ink should be used

3. Embossed paper

(1) the characteristics of embossed paper

mechanical embossing is used, so everyone can rest assured to use the method of our company's product flower or wrinkle paper to form concave convex patterns on the surface of paper or paperboard. Embossed paper improves its decorative effect by embossing, making the paper more textural. In recent years, embossing on the surface of printing paper has become more and more common. Color dyed papers such as offset paper, coated paper, white board paper and white cardboard are embossed (embossed) before printing. As "embossed printing paper", it can greatly improve the grade of paper and bring higher added value to the sales of paper. Many paper sheets used for flexible packaging are often embossed before or after printing to improve the visual effect of packaging and decoration and improve the value of goods. Therefore, embossing has become an important method of paper processing

(2) processing methods of embossed paper

there are two processing methods of embossed paper. First, after the paper is produced, the pattern is added mechanically to become embossed paper; Second, after the flat base paper dries out, it is put into the embossing machine for further processing, and then it is pressed by two rollers, one of which is engraved with embossing pattern, and the paper will be embossed after passing. Due to the deep texture of embossing paper, it is usually only imprinted on one side of the paper

(3) embossing type

embossing can affect the surface treatment by the selection of surface treatment materials, quality and process management, which can be divided into two types: overprint embossing and non overprint embossing. The so-called overprint embossing is to press the printed flower shape into a concave convex shape according to the flower shape of printing, so as to drum up the pattern, which can play the role of aesthetic decoration

no overprint embossing, that is, the embossed pattern is not directly related to the pattern of printing. It is expected that the pig iron market will continue to be depressed in the near future. There are many kinds of embossed patterns. Such as cloth pattern, oblique cloth pattern, straight stripe, Yalian, orange skin pattern, straight stripe, needle pattern, egg skin pattern, sack pattern, lattice pattern, leather pattern, scalp pattern, linen pattern, gear stripe, etc. This non overprint embossing is widely used in embossed printing paper, coated book cover paper, lacquer cover paper, plastic synthetic paper, vegetable parchment and other decorative materials

domestic embossing paper is mostly made of offset paper and white board. The surface is rough, textured, expressive and diverse. Many art designers prefer to use this kind of paper to make the cover and title page of books or albums to express different personalities
